Mock interview Question-Cardio Vascular System
hello Everyone,
Hope you all are doing well..
Let’s Discuss about the question of Cardio Vascular System which are asked most frequently in interview
1. What is the medical term used for “Blood Vessel” ?
Ans- There are five types of blood vessels: the arteries, which carry the blood away from the heart; the arterioles; the capillaries, where the exchange of water and chemicals between the blood and the tissues occurs; the venules; and the veins, which carry blood from the capillaries back towards the heart.
2. What is the meaning of “Athero” ?

Ans- A procedure in which a needle is used to take blood from a vein, usually for laboratory testing. Phlebotomy may also be done to remove extra red blood cells .
4. Difference between Thrombus and Embolus ?
ans- An embolus is a particle or mass that flows through the bloodstream.
or
A thrombus is a blood clot in a blood vessel.
5. What is the meaning of “Capillaries” ?
Ans- Capillaries are tiny vessels that transport blood, nutrients and oxygen to cells in your organs and body systems.
6. How many pulmonary artery and pulmonary vein is present ?
- The main pulmonary artery, also known as the pulmonary trunk, splits into the right and left pulmonary arteries.
- These arteries carry deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle of the heart to the lungs for oxygenation.
- Each lung receives blood from its respective pulmonary artery.
- There are four pulmonary veins, with two from each lung (left and right).
- These veins carry oxygenated blood from the lungs back to the left atrium of the heart.
- The pulmonary veins drain into the left atrium through separate openings, which allows the oxygen-rich blood to be pumped to the rest of the body
7. What is the meaning of “Venules” ?
Ans- A venule is a small vein, specifically the smallest veins that collect blood from capillaries and deliver it to larger veins, ultimately returning it to the heart
8. What is mean by “Aorta” ?
Ans- The aorta is the largest artery of the body and carries blood from the heart to the circulatory system.
9. What is the other name used for Bicuspid valve ?
Ans- The other name for the bicuspid valve is the mitral valve.
10. What is mean by “Diastole and Systole” ?
Ans- In the cardiac cycle,
diastole refers to the phase when the heart chambers (atria and ventricles) are relaxed and filling with blood.
Systole, on the other hand, is the phase when the heart chambers contract, pumping blood out of the heart and into the circulatory system
11. Which one is called Natural pacemaker ?
Ans- The sinus node is sometimes called the heart’s “natural pacemaker.
12. What is mean by “Angioplasty” ?
Ans- Angioplasty is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to widen blocked or narrowed blood vessels, primarily arteries around the heart, to improve blood flow.
13. What is mean by “Tachycardia” ?
Ans- Tachycardia means a fast heart rate, specifically more than 100 beats per minute at rest.
14. What is mean by “Lumen” ?
Ans- The lumen is the space within the tubes, tracts, cavities, and cells of the body
15. What is mean by “Orthostatic hypotension” ?
Ans- Orthostatic hypotension, also known as postural hypotension, refers to a sudden drop in blood pressure that occurs when a person stands up after sitting or lying down.
16. What is mean by “Regurgitation” ?
Ans- Regurgitation refers to the involuntary or voluntary return of swallowed food or digestive fluids from the esophagus or stomach back into the mouth.
17. What is mean by “Angina” ?
Ans- Angina is chest pain or discomfort that occurs when the heart muscle doesn’t get enough oxygen-rich blood.
18. Abbreviation for “BBB” ?
19. What is mean by “Cardiomyopathy” ?
Ans- Cardiomyopathy means “heart muscle disease.” It’s a condition where the heart muscle becomes weakened, enlarged, or has structural problems, leading to difficulties in pumping blood effectively. This can result in symptoms of heart failure, irregular heartbeats, and potentially life-threatening events.
20. What is mean by “MI” ?
Ans- In medical terms, MI stands for Myocardial Infarction, which is also known as a heart attack.
21. Abbreviation for “CABG” ?
Ans- CABG stands for Coronary Artery Bypass Graft.
22. Difference between Atrial fibrillation and Atrial flutter ?
Ans- In atrial fibrillation, the atria beat irregularly. In atrial flutter, the atria beat regularly, but faster than usual and more often than the ventricles.
23. What is mean by “CAD” ?
Ans- In medical terms, CAD stands for Coronary Artery Disease.
24. What is mean by “Aneurysm” ?
Ans- An aneurysm is a bulge or ballooning in the wall of a blood vessel, usually an artery, caused by a weakness in the vessel wall
25. What is mean by “Angiography” ?
Ans- Angiography is a medical imaging technique that uses X-rays to visualize blood vessels by injecting a special dye (contrast agent) into the blood.
26. “ECG” abbreviation ?
Ans- ECG stands for Electrocardiogram
27. What is mean by “CPR” ?
Ans- In medical terms, CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation
28. What is mean by “Cardiac septum” ?
Ans- The septum is a wall of tissue separating the heart’s right and left sides. It consists of both atrial and ventricular septums. A healthy septum helps the heart pump blood efficiently by preventing it from flowing back into the heart chambers.
29. What is the name for upper chambers of heart ?
Ans- The upper chambers of the heart are called atria (plural) or atrium (singular). They are also sometimes referred to as auricles. There are two atria: the right atrium and the left atrium
30. What is the name for lower chambers of heart ?
Ans- The lower chambers of the heart are called ventricles. There are two ventricles, the right and left, which are more muscular than the upper chambers (atria) and responsible for pumping blood out of the heart.
31. Where tricuspid valve present ?
Ans- The tricuspid valve is located between the right atrium and the right ventricle of the heart. It is also known as the right atrioventricular valve.
32. What is the meaning of “Myocardium” ?
Ans- The myocardium is the middle and thickest layer of the heart wall, composed of cardiac muscle tissue.
33. What is mean by “vena cava” ?
Ans- A large vein that carries blood to the heart from other areas of the body.
34. What is the meaning of “Arterioles” ?
Ans- The arteriolar lumen regulates the flow of blood through the capillaries.
35. What is the difference between artery and vein ?
Ans- Arteries carry blood away from the heart to the rest of the body.
Or
Veins push blood back to your heart.
36. What is mean by Angiogram ?
Ans- An angiogram is an imaging test that provides detailed views of blood vessels, typically arteries, using X-rays, CT scans, or MRI.
37. What is mean by Stenosis ?
Ans- Stenosis refers to the abnormal narrowing or constriction of a bodily canal or passage.
38. What is mean by Arteriorrhexis ?
Ans- Arteriorrhexis means the rupture or bursting of an artery.
39. What is mean by Cardiac arrest ?
Ans- Cardiac arrest means the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating.
40. What is mean by CHF ?
Ans- Congenital septal defect refers to a birth defect where there’s a hole or opening in the wall (septum) between the heart’s chambers.
42. What is mean by Arterosclerosis?
Ans- Atherosclerosis is a condition where plaque builds up inside your arteries, causing them to narrow and harden, potentially restricting blood flow.
43. What is the meaning of “Conduction system of heart” ?
Ans- The conduction system of the heart is a specialized network of cells that generates and transmits electrical signals, coordinating the contractions of the heart muscle to ensure synchronized pumping of blood
44. What is mean by varicose veins?
Ans- Varicose veins are swollen, twisted veins that are visible under the skin, often appearing blue or purple.
45. What is mean by pacemaker implantation ?
Ans- Pacemaker implantation is a surgical procedure where a small electronic device, a pacemaker, is implanted into the chest or abdomen to help regulate an irregular heartbeat.
